Celebrating 21 Years…… and recruiting for the future, Monitran goes from strength to strength

Instrumentation South, Reading, United Kingdom – 3rd October 2007 - Monitran, a world leader in the development and manufacture of sensors for the measurement of vibration and displacement, is celebrating its 21st anniversary this year. Not content to rest on its laurels, however, the company is busily planning for the next 21 years of its future and is actively recruiting for Engineering and Sales positions.
Established in 1986 and based near High Wycombe in the UK, Monitran has the widest range of standard accelerometer and Linear Variable Differential Transformer (LVDT) products available from any single supplier.
Donald Lyon, Monitran’s Managing Director, comments: “Over the 21 years we have been in business the name of Monitran has become synonymous with vibration and displacement measurement transducers, and we have an impressive track record of customising products for bespoke applications.”
Monitran’s products are used for monitoring vibrations in machinery (such as pumps, motors, engines and drive trains) in a diverse range of applications including automotive, aerospace, industrial processing, power stations and wind turbines. Lyon adds: “Our products are at home in any application where vibrations or displacements provide early indications of mechanical wear or that a structure’s integrity has been compromised.”
Following some changes in management and engineering staff in late 2006, Monitran is now working more closely with customers than had previously been possible. Also, product delivery times have been improved by approximately 25% following a review and consequent refinement of manufacturing processes.
Company founder and Technical Director Bob Pickard comments: “A new Monitran came to market this year and we’ve launched several innovative products for use in vibration analysis and conditioning monitoring applications. In addition we have strengthened our links with established customers and continue to offer our tried and trusted range of accelerometers, LVDTs and eddy current probes and drivers.”
Monitran currently employs 43 people but an increased demand for the company’s products and services necessitates the recruitment of engineering and sales personnel.
Lyon concludes: “Our twenty-first year marks a true coming-of-age for Monitran. Also, we are proud to be a successful, UK-based, privately-owned manufacturing company, and our policy of investing in people and technology will continue well into the future.”
