APV introduces its new PUMA+centrifugal pump

17 March 2009

Low cost with high standards – APV’s new PUMA+ centrifugal pump for standard duty applications.

APV, an SPX brand, is delighted to announce the launch of its new sanitary PUMA+ range of single-stage end-suction centrifugal pumps.

Complete Pumping Solutions
The PUMA+ joins the established APV portfolio of sanitary centrifugal pumps, which includes the comprehensive W+ range of premium sanitary end-suction centrifugal pumps designed with maximum operating benefits and minimal life cycle costs in mind. The Ws+ range of sanitary self-priming pumps is designed using a unique technology exclusive to APV, affording substantial operating improvements over the traditional design style self priming pumps.

Both the W+ and the Ws+ are designed to achieve genuine ownership lifetime cost savings, through significantly lower energy consumption, ease of maintenance and increased reliability, whilst meeting the highest levels of hygienic design.

Founded on a legacy spanning 45 years, the APV PUMA+ is the perfect choice of centrifugal pump when key considerations include reliability, flexibility and value for money.

The PUMA+ pump is one of the most flexible low cost centrifugal pumps available. The range covers three sizes, achieving heads up to 7.8 bar and flow rates up to 135 m3/hr and is suitable for system pressures up to 16 bar. The PUMA+ is therefore ideal for all standard applications in the brewery, beverage, food and dairy industries.

Flexible Installation
The PUMA+ is ideal for building into existing plant designs, often without any changes required to pipe layouts and drawings. PUMA+ pipe connections range from DN40 to DN125 which, combined with the choice of adjustable legs or brackets available in various heights, makes it one of the most flexible, low cost pumps available and the perfect choice for OEM’s and systems builders.

First Class for Hygiene
What may be surprising although low cost, the PUMA+ meets the strictest requirements of the EHEDG (European Hygienic Engineering & Design Group), is fully suitable for CIP and SIP and all product contact parts are in AISI 316L . The PUMA+, unlike many other pumps in its class, stands out with its superior hygienic shaft seal design with the spring located outside of the product wetted area. Gentle product handling is guaranteed as the pump is fitted with the APV patented spiral volute positioned in the back, thus making the PUMA+ the safe choice for pumping your product.

Low Cost Maintenance
Ease of maintenance was of paramount importance in the design of the PUMA+ as is the case with all APV centrifugal pumps. The shaft seal can be visually inspected for leaks without dismantling, with only the pump housing and impeller needing to be removed to actually replace the seal. Another benefit is the PUMA+ uses the same shaft seals and O-rings as the APV W+ and Ws+ premium pump ranges. This means those plants already using W+ and Ws+ pumps on their premium applications and who now use PUMA+ for their standard applications, will reduce costs through consolidation and integration of spare part stocks.
