| 12/08/2009 - NEW “TINY” BABIES AT AA ROBOTICS |
“Tiny” palm-sized SCARA robots have joined the family at AA Robotics; their mounting surface is so small that they fit into the palm of a human hand. These tiny robots from Yahama are designed for compact production processes undertaking high-precision tasks for manufacturing assembly and packaging in the electronics, pharmaceutical, medical and plastics industries.
“Tiny” robots are ideal for mounting inside a machine to do pick and place applications, typically doing this in less than one second. The smallest of the two 4 Axis Assembly Robots has a payload of 500 grams,a reach of 120mm to 150mm and a pick and place cycle time of just 1.0 second. Its sibling has a 180mm to 220mm reach with a 1kg payload.
With a small footprint of 99mm x 35mm the “Tiny” range is Ansi Compliant and CE Marked. Each robot has two air pipes in the arm for gripper control and six electrical signals for feedback. Programming is carried out via a PC and ORiN software, with force control Device net, Profibus and Ethernet TCP/IP available. Connections can be easily made to a vision system like Cognex to guide the robot for the pick up or place positions.
The additions to the extensive robot family at AA Robotics fit well with its existing range from DENSO. “We believe passionately that the fundemental of engineering excellence is use of the correct tool for the job,” says Neil Billingham of AA Robotics, “and the addition of the “Tiny” range ensures we can meet all requirements.”
