Versatile Battery Compartment Enclosures

OKW’s extensive ‘SHELL-TYPE’ range of plastic enclosures offers an unrivalled selection of sizes, styles and battery compartments.
These modern and robust enclosures have been designed to house many different types of small electronic devices including test and measurement, medical and wellness, peripherals, interfaces and switching equipment etc.
The ‘SHELL-TYPE’ enclosures are moulded in off-white, RAL 9002 ABS (UL 94 HB). Three different types are offered: Type V with a single front panel aperture, Type O with two front panel apertures and Type G which is closed with no front panel apertures. With four standard plan sizes and six standard heights a huge range of models is offered with external dimensions ranging from 85 x 45 x 22 mm to 190 x 38 x 91 mm.
In addition to this, the enclosures are offered with three different battery compartments which will accept four battery cell combinations: 2 x 1.5V AA, 4 x 1.5V AA, 1 x 9V and 2 x 9V cells. The battery compartments have a clip-on external access lid.
New for 2011, the ‘SHELL-TYPE’ cases can be fitted with nickel plated steel spring battery contacts which conform to DIN EN 60601 and are designed to avoid short circuit if the batteries are inserted incorrectly.
All models are provided with internal screw bosses and guide grooves for fitting the PCBs and electronic components. Accessory anodised aluminium, or red PVC, front panels are offered for the models with front panel apertures.
The closed Type G models feature a recessed top moulding for fitting a membrane keypad or product label, and will also accept a gasket for sealing up to IP65.
Other accessories include tilt feet, wall brackets and holders, pocket/belt clips, rubber non-slip feet and EMC contact strips. Case prices start at £8.
OKW can supply the ‘SHELL-TYPE’ cases with additional holes for the push-buttons, connectors and displays, plus silk-screen printed legends and logos, and EMC shielding.
