IOSH 2011 achieves phenomenal growth at London’s ExCeL

23 March 2011

The IOSH 2011 conference and exhibition achieved a substantial growth in visitors when it took place from 15-16 March 2011 at London’s ExCeL. Attended by 1229(1) health and safety professionals, the exhibition featured more than 100 industry-leading organisations including Ansell, JSP, Arco, Draeger, Aviva, NEBOSH and the Health & Safety Executive. The conference alongside the exhibition entitled Health and safety: Rising to the challenge was attended by 774 delegates and the newly introduced CoreSkills+ programme of workshops was attended by 135 delegates, with many sessions booked to capacity.

Nigel Dupree, Director, SMART Foundation said of his experience exhibiting at IOSH 2011: “It has been a shocking show, for most events we exhibit at we look forward to having 6 or 7 quality conversations over the whole event. At IOSH 2011 we have been having this number of conversations every hour and have met with some very high quality visitors.”

While Chris Busby, Country Manager, ATG Gloves said: “The quality of visitors this year has been fantastic and exactly the level of people we need to speak to. We have some very promising leads with blue-chip companies and have already booked a bigger stand for next year.”

Not only was it a hugely successful event for its exhibitors, but IOSH 2011 exceeded the expectations of its visitors. First time visitor, Rita Mackenzie, Deputy Chief Technician, BHR University Hosp NHS Trust said: “This was my first time at the IOSH event and I have had a great day. There is a really good range of exhibitors and I have heard some great seminars sessions too. I planned my day before I came and have attended all of the free theatres.”

Praising the educational content of the event Louise Keys, Health & Safety Manager at Marwell Wildlife said: “I have had a fantastic and very entertaining visit to IOSH 2011. As I work for a charity, the free seminar sessions have been very useful and the whole event has exceeded my expectations.”

“We’re delighted with the feedback we’ve received from exhibitors, visitors and delegates alike,” said Adrian Newton, Portfolio Director at IOSH 2011 organisers, UBM Live. “This year we introduced a number of new initiatives to enhance the visitor experience including the CoreSkills+ programme of workshops and an additional free-to-attend seminar theatre. Over 55% of next year’s exhibition is already booked and it’s great to see that the hard work of the team behind the event has resulted in the most successful IOSH conference & exhibition ever.”

The annual peripatetic event has taken place over recent years in Liverpool, Telford and last year was held in Glasgow. IOSH 2012 will take place from 6-7 March 2012 at Manchester Central.
