LC Automation unwrap cling film production process

A Lancashire cling film manufacturer has made huge technological improvements to its production line, with help from Blackburn-based LC Automation.
R L Controls had been commissioned by Total Polyfilm, based in Bamber Bridge, to improve overall reliability and operator set up time on of their polythene production lines. LC Automation was drafted in by R L Controls to assist with the project due to their expert knowledge of variable speed drives and control products.

The line was previously powered by unreliable and resource draining DC drives and motors, with little remaining in-built capacity to tailor operations to a particular manufacturing need. Total Polyfilm had decided to replace the system with more easily maintained and reliable AC inverters and AC motors. After in depth technical discussions with LC Automation, RL Controls proposed AC motors with embedded feedback encoders and Mitsubishi inverters to provide greater manufacturing control.
