Following ongoing legislative changes there is increasing pressure on installers to specify more energy efficient lighting. Helping customers to work well, Newey & Eyre has introduced a new range of luminaires to its Newlec range, designed to meet the new requirements and lower energy consumption.
A key new addition is the Newlec T5 batten luminaire which has been fitted with energy saving intelligent controls. There are two control options available; on/off or digital dimming. Both include an integral microwave PIR, meaning no additional wiring is required by the contractor and they can be mounted at heights of up to three metres.
For ultimate cost efficiency, the on/off lighting control automatically switches lighting off and offers the greatest energy savings as it is typically used in areas of low foot traffic, such as wash and wet rooms, that do not require permanent lighting. Alternatively the digital dimming control model can be used in areas where it is impractical to turn lights off completely, such as car parks. Customers who switch ten traditional 58W batten luminaires to Newlec 35W battens can expect to save more than £160 per year on their energy bills.
Other additions to the range include a T5 lowbay luminaire which is suitable for a range of industrial and retail environments. Offering a hugely efficient option, it is complete with an instant on/off system which can lead to a maximum energy saving of 50 per cent, in comparison to previously used HID systems. Further benefits include a longer lamp life, improved colour rendition and HF control gear for flicker free operation.
Product manager, Chris Tranter comments: “With the changes that were introduced last year to Part L of the Building Regulations, installers now must adhere to stricter rules when it comes to lighting. Our new range of luminaires offer our customers a quality and cost-effective alternative and meet government guidelines in reducing energy consumption.
“Looking forward, as one of the key areas of energy use, the lighting category will also be a target for change and improvement. As a result we are constantly manufacturing new, top quality products, meaning our customers are always one step ahead with the latest technology.”
