Superyacht garage doors powered by Astrosyn motors

Garage doors for cars carried on superyachts are being powered by dc motors from Astrosyn International Technology. The motors are used to drive hydraulic power packs, which also operate the yachts' trim tabs, fold out balconies, autopilots and hydraulic steering as well as trimming sales and raising anchors.
The motors were chosen by Phoenix Marine Solutions, who specialise in designing and manufacturing hydraulic systems for the superyacht industry. Larger yachts often contain many dozens of hydraulic applications.
"We chose Astrosyn after researching the market for electric motors that were quiet, reliable and economical," said Phoenix's Elizabeth Noles. "Availability was also a big factor."
The motors were custom designed by Astrosyn to provide the quiet operation befitting the standards of luxury expected on superyachts, as well as being rugged enough to operate in a marine environment.
Phoenix Marine Solutions is a division of Phoenix Hydraulics, which provides bespoke hydraulic power packs, hydraulic components, hoses and fittings, as well as designing and manufacturing large hydraulically actuated mechanisms for super yachts.
