Noise or vibration generated by small motors can be a problem in applications as varied as medical equipment, analytical instruments, security camera control and engraving machines. As well as careful selection of system parameters, an effective way to minimise vibration is to insert a damper between the motor and its mount.
A range of suitable antivibration dampers for small flange-mounted industrial motors is available from Astrosyn International Technology. These energy-absorbing rubber mounts with a metal mounting face are available in NEMA motor frame sizes 16, 17, 22 and 23. Their low profiles of only 6 mm for the smaller sizes and 10 mm for the larger ones mean they can be retrofitted to existing motors with standard shaft lengths.
Central access holes 22 mm in diameter for the smaller sizes and 40 mm for the larger models are large enough to accommodate a spigot and gear or pulley.
Lightweight but robust, the dampers can be bolted directly onto the motor flange. Threaded mounting holes are provided on the damper's mounting face.
The dampers can be purchased online from Astrosyn's web site at www.astrosyn.com.
