BP is one of the world’s leading international oil and gas companies. We have two main business segments: Upstream and Downstream.
Our activities are focused on finding, developing and producing sources of energy, and turning these into products that people need. We provide our customers with fuel for transportation, energy for heat and light, lubricants to keep engines moving and our petrochemicals products are used in the manufacture of everyday items, such as plastic bottles.
We also invest in renewable energy sources, biofuels and wind power, which we believe will have an increasing role in the energy supply mix. These are managed through our Alternative Energy business, which is managed and reported as part of our Other businesses and corporate information.
As a global company, our interests and activities are held or operated through subsidiaries, branches, joint ventures or associates established in, and are subject to the laws and regulations of, many different jurisdictions.
