LAWRENCE WATERMAN APPOINTED TRUSTEE OF THE BRITISH SAFETY COUNCIL

The chair and chief executive of the British Safety Council, Lynda Armstrong OBE and Alex Botha, have announced that Lawrence Waterman MSc CFIOSH MFOH PFRSPH FRSA, Head of Health and Safety at the London Legacy Development Corporation, has been appointed to serve as a member of the board of trustees effective 1 May 2012.
Lynda Armstrong said, “We are delighted that Lawrence has agreed to take on the important role of trustee on the board of the British Safety Council. Lawrence will bring to this role a wealth of knowledge and experience built up over many years in health and safety management. He has been an inspirational leader not only in the construction sector, but also as an influential player in promoting health and wellbeing across all sectors.
“In the many roles he has carried out, including as Past President of IOSH, Head of Health and Safety at the Olympic Delivery Authority, Chairman of Sypol and Project Director for Constructing Better Health, Lawrence has demonstrated not only a passion and commitment for keeping workers healthy and safe but has inspired many to take on the vitally important role of health and safety practitioner and to make a real difference.
“Lawrence’s appointment as a trustee of the British Safety Council coincides with the launch of our manifesto, Working Well, which sets out five steps for healthier and safer workplaces we consider necessary to achieve our vision that no-one should be killed, injured or made ill by work activities.
