Pacepacker Wins Company of the Year

Rounding off their Jubilee celebrations, Essex based packing machinery manufacturer Pacepacker received the top accolade at the Food Processing 2012 Awards winning Company of the Year for their recent achievements in product development, customer service, sales and export. Pacepacker were finalists in the Robotics & Automation category for their bagging and palletising solution at premium potato grower & packer, Preva Produce.
Over the last 12 months Pacepacker, a manufacturer of packing machines including bagging, robot palletising and pick and place equipment, have beaten the recession and redeveloped the business in a number of areas. Three years ago they deployed a strategic plan to help strengthen their market position during the tough economic times. The results of implementing this strategy have come to fruition over the last 12 months. This has included a 42% increase in export sales brought about by entering new overseas markets. Also the development of the ‘FlexaPac’, a new patented tray loading machine providing an entirely unique solution for packers of delicate netted food goods looking to increase throughput and reduce waste. At the same time the building of a £70k ‘Try Before You Buy’ test facility allows customers to try out products on Pacepacker equipment prior to purchase and has helped to speed-up the order process. To help manage all these initiatives Pacepacker Services have recently employed four new staff including two new sales managers, and have appointed Marketing & PR agency GloHouse which has been instrumental in increasing solid sales enquiries by 60% and raising the company profile.
Unlike many awards which are judged by a panel, it was Pacepacker’s loyal customers, suppliers and technology partners who they have to thank: “To think that we were chosen by the voters over and above some of UK’s biggest manufacturing names is overwhelming,” comments Pacepacker’s Managing Director Dennis Allison. “Recession-proofing our business with a results driven strategic plan helped our dedicated team focus on activities that made a positive difference during the tough economic period. Their loyalty, hard work and drive paid off; not only have we benefitted in terms of increased profitability and sales, we’ve become a leaner, more customer focused and innovative company.”

These annual awards, which celebrate all aspects of the food processing industry including automation, hygiene solution, packaging machinery environmental solution, are organised by Food Processing Magazine. The awards take place in June each year following the Appetite for Engineering event which attracts leading food producers, manufacturers and retailers.
