Powerful hardware platform from Lenze for visualisation and control applications.
The new Lenze p500 panel mounted controller combines touchscreen visualisa-tion with PLC logic and motion control. Together with advanced Lenze pro-gramming software, the p500 allows machine designers to create simpler au-tomation systems. It is ideally suited as a machine-oriented visualisation and control platform in both centralised and decentralised architectures
The p500 is based on the tried-and-tested Lenze 3200C controller with the addition of a touch-sensitive TFT display in 7, 10.4 and 15 inch sizes. High computing power is provided by a 1.6 GHz Intel® Atom™ processor with 1 gigabyte of internal main memory and 2 gigabytes of Flash memory to replace a conventional hard disc. In ad-dition there is a SD card slot for application data. The design is particularly robust and maintenance free. A SuperCap capacitor is used instead of a standard buffer battery in the internal clock, and an internal UPS automatically stores retain data in the event of power cut. It is easy to use with automated standard set-up and back-up via a USB flash drive.
Communication is made easy with the p500 controller. There are two 100MBit Ether-net ports with an integral switch to allow daisy-chain cabling. EtherCAT is standard as a fast bus system. Further more there are two USB ports and a slot to connect op-tional communication cards for CANopen or PROFIBUS.
By combining visualisation with soft PLC Logic and motion control into the p 500, Lenze have created the opportunity to simplify machine automation systems. With the single controller achieving three functions, there are savings in panel space, cabling and purchase logistics. The task of programming is simplified with integrated Lenze software for logic to CoDeSys 3 and IEC 61131-3, for motion to PLCopen and for vis-ualisation using the proven VisiWinNET. Use of these international standards will keep the p500 fit for future demands.
