igus UK exhibits next-generation miniature linear drives and cabling at Engineering Design Show 2012

30 July 2012

igus UK Ltd, Stand B10 Ricoh Arena, Coventry 10th – 11th October, 2012

Leading polymer specialist igus UK will be exhibiting the latest additions to its industry-leading energy chains and chainflex continuous-flex cables, as well its maintenance free range of linear guides and plain, spherical and linear bearings at its stand B10, at this year’s Engineering Design Show. Visitors to the stand will be able to meet the linear drive and cable experts to learn how to optimise processes and reduce costs through innovative use of plastic components.

One of the main highlights at the igus stand will be the new drylin SLN-27 miniature linear drive axis with polymer bearings. The high-performance drylin SLN-27 miniature linear axis has been developed specifically for simple handling tasks in confined spaces, and it offers design flexibility for positioning small loads. The plastic module has high wear resistance, is maintenance-free, self-lubricating and corrosion-resistant, providing a ‘fit and forget’ solution. With compact dimensions of only 22mm high by 28mm wide, it is suitable for low load sensor adjustments and feed mechanisms, as well as lightweight handling tasks such as those found in laboratory equipment.

Also on display will be a range of igus energy chains, which are made from high performance plastics – they are tough, resistant to corrosion and impact offering high UV, temperature and precipitation stability, over extremely long working lives, making them a cost-effective choice. There are ESD/ATEX compliant versions which are proven to function reliably even at extreme temperatures and in adverse weather conditions. The ESD/ATEX energy chains are now available from stock within 24 hours, enabling designers to build machines more quickly and efficiently.

In addition, igus offers a complete collection of National Fire Protection Association NFPA compliant control, bus, motor, servo and measuring system cables, with more than 650 versions in stock. The cables from the popular chainflex product family conform to the 79-2012 standard (Chapter 12.9) of the NFPA – the electrical standard for industrial machinery. As a result, engineers can use these cables for moving applications without the need to compromise on durability or safety.
