New Feeder System Makes Motor Starter Assembly Faster and Easier

Eaton has developed a new fast and cost-effective method for machine and system builders to assemble motor starters in applications requiring multiple motors. The versatile Motor Starter Feeder System (MSFS) includes back-plates with integral three phase bus bars rated at 125 A, which are complemented by feed-in terminal blocks and adapter plates for motor protective circuit breakers, motor starter combinations and soft starters. Other components, such as measuring modules, can also be easily integrated.
In order to maximise time savings, MSFS back-plates can either be clipped directly onto DIN mounting rails or installed on a standard mounting plate. In either case, once installed, the back-plates are ready to receive feed-in terminal blocks and can accommodate up to four or eight adaptor plates. Standard adaptor plates enable users to add components such as PKZ and PKE motor protective circuit breakers, with special adaptor plates available for larger assemblies including components such as reversing starters.
Feed-in terminal blocks for the MSFS system can be positioned anywhere on the back-plate and use snap-lock technology to enable tool-free wiring connections. Power connections can be made to the top or bottom of the terminal blocks, which are rated at 80 A. For higher currents, up to the maximum 125 A rating of the MSFS system, two terminal blocks can be used to feed a single back-plate.
Safety is a key benefit of the MSFS system, which provides power distribution in accordance with IEC 61439 and UL 508 and also offers IP20 protection against accidental contact with live parts.
