11 September 2018

The Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) has announced the finalists of the IChemE Global Awards 2018. More than 100 entries from around the world have made the cut, all with the chance of being announced as a winner at the IChemE Global Awards in Manchester, UK on 1 November 2018.

The IChemE Global Awards, in association with Johnson Matthey, celebrate excellence and achievement in chemical, biochemical and process engineering. Finalists demonstrate their professional engineering expertise across a range of industry sectors and projects.

Successful finalists this year include: ExxonMobil, Green Lizard Technologies, the Hong Kong Productivity Council, Imperial College London, InterEngineering, Monash University, Recycling Technologies and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.

The IChemE Global Awards ceremony and dinner will take place at The Principal Hayley Hotel in Manchester, UK. Stand-up comedian Alun Cochrane will host the event. He is famed for appearing on British television shows, including Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow and Dave’s One Night Stand.

This year’s line-up includes the new IChemE Pharma Award (sponsored by PM Group) and the IChemE Diversity and Inclusion Award (sponsored by BP). The best entry across all categories will receive the IChemE Outstanding Achievement in Chemical and Process Engineering Award (sponsored by ExxonMobil).

Winners of the IChemE Malaysia Awards (15 October) qualify as finalists in their respective categories at the IChemE Global Awards.

IChemE Chief Executive Jon Prichard said:

“Once again, we’ve had a wonderful variety of entries to this year’s awards, showcasing innovation, technical progression, and a dedication to advancing the profession to make the world a better place.

“Thank you to everyone who has submitted an entry this year and thank you to our judges for their rigorous assessment.

“Every year you are demonstrating why chemical engineering matters and how the profession contributes to greater societal benefit. In recognising your accomplishments, IChemE is committed to supporting your professional development, helping you to advance the profession.

“Congratulations to all of this year’s finalists. I look forward to seeing you all at the awards ceremony, so that together we can celebrate your achievements in chemical engineering.”
