PROSEAL EMPLOYEE NAMED APPRENTICE OF THE YEAR

15 April 2019

First year Proseal ProMotor apprentice, Marcus Callow, has been named ‘Motor Vehicle Apprentice of the Year’ by Macclesfield College, Cheshire.

The twenty-four-year-old is completing his apprenticeship in Proseal’s ProMotor Fleet Maintenance and Repair department. This division specialises in maintaining the company’s fleet vehicles and has been operating for two years.

After leaving Poynton High School, Marcus went on to study various subjects at Stockport College before leaving to work in a garage. It was here that he heard about Proseal’s ProMotor Transport Motor Vehicle Apprenticeship.

Marcus applied for the scheme as he wanted to follow a dedicated career path and was impressed by Proseal’s excellent reputation for looking after its employees.

He is currently undertaking a three-year part-time NVQ course at Macclesfield College and then hopes to complete a master technician course so he can fulfil his ambition to become a Fleet Maintenance Co-ordinator.

“I’d like to congratulate Marcus on this well-deserved award,” says Manager and Trainer, Antony Cragg. “He is a great asset to our team - punctual, polite and hardworking and always gives 100 per cent. He has a great work-ethic and is always looking to find solutions in his work. Marcus is keen to help those around him and he isn’t shy of doing extra work outside of his job role.”

Training has been a key element of Proseal’s operation from the very beginning, with comprehensive programmes that have seen many recruits promoted to senior positions over the years. “It's fantastic that Marcus has been recognised in this way,” says Director, Steve Malone. “We firmly believe that the strength of the company lies with our people, and our apprentices form a big part of our future. In order to grow and develop the business, we need to train our staff to the highest levels of expertise to maintain our world-class standards.”

Proseal has significantly expanded its apprenticeship scheme recently, after investing in a new training centre at its global headquarters in Adlington, Cheshire. The Proseal Apprentice Training Scheme enables young engineers to receive on-the-job, practical experience alongside classroom training.

Marcus received his award at a special ceremony at Macclesfield College which celebrated the progress and achievements made by all the students who are currently enrolled on the College’s work-based apprenticeships schemes.

Founded in 1998, Proseal designs and manufactures high quality tray sealing machines, conveyor systems and sealing tools for the food industry. The company has become one of the country’s leading suppliers of tray sealing solutions for a wide variety of food and non-food sectors, including protein, ready meals, fresh produce, pharmaceutical and DIY.
