Gardner Denver showcases leading vacuum solutions at IFFA

17 April 2019

Gardner Denver will be showcasing its extensive range of vacuum solutions for the food packaging and processing industry from its Elmo Rietschle brand at this year’s IFFA exhibition. This includes Gardner Denver’s new oil-free, claw technology vacuum pump, the C-VLR 62 & 122.

Taking place 4 – 9 May at Messe Frankfurt’s Fair and Exhibition Centre, Gardner Denver will be on stand E56 in hall 11, demonstrating its experience and expertise in the food packaging and processing industry with the very latest range of vacuum innovations.

Next Generation C-VLR 62 & 122

Launching officially at IFFA, Gardner Denver’s new C-VLR 62 & 122 vacuum pump builds on more than 20 years’ experience in oil-free claw technology. Compact, energy-efficient and quiet, the new air-cooled pump has been developed in response to customer demands. The C-VLR 62 pump offers a suction capacity of 60 m3/h, while the C-VLR 122 pump offers a suction capacity of 120 m3/h.

Both variants are available with either passive or active cooling capabilities, depending on customer requirements. Suitable passive cooling applications include pneumatic conveying, whereas active cooling is more appropriate for uses such as ‘pick and place’.

For food sites with only limited plant space available, the new C-VLR offers a 30 per cent smaller footprint than other existing claw vacuum pumps available on the market, increasing useable floorspace. Improved energy efficiency is achieved through the machine’s claw technology and its unique inlet position, helping to reduce total lifecycle costs significantly. For example, the C-VLR 62 with active cooling can deliver up to 50 per cent greater performance than existing available models, resulting in a saving of up to £500 in energy costs.

Delivering best-in-class noise levels, the technology features a sound insulation cover and exhaust silencer, eliminating the need for food packaging and processing customers to invest in any additional sound insulation.

The C-VLR 62 & 122 is available in both CD and XD models, covering ‘classic duty’ coating versions and heavy-duty units respectively, offering businesses the best machine based on their processes and needs. For example, the XD range includes features such as ‘ProCoat’, a protective coating safeguarding against harsh processes.

The result is a vacuum solution that provides consistent operational efficiencies best suited to the application, covering reduced installation and running costs over the lifetime of the machine, as well as greater reliability and increased service intervals.

VSI 600

Gardner Denver will also be exhibiting its new VSI 600 pump. Offering an efficient and environmentally-friendly vacuum solution with a low cost of ownership, the VSI 600 pump has been designed to be robust and long-lasting, with enhanced corrosion resistance.

Available in a compact and simple design, the technology matches process demands with efficient temperature control to deliver incredibly high performance. The fact the technology is oil-free also means there is no requirement for frequent oil changes, reducing costs for operators.

VGD 11/16/21

Finally, Gardner Denver will be showcasing its oil-lubricated rotary vane vacuum pump range, the VGD 11/16/21. Suitable for food and beverage applications such as packaging, filler and ‘pick and place’, the latest VGD models are more stylish and compact than previous units, with suction capabilities ranging from 10 m3/h to 20 m3/h. Its small footprint, achieved through an overhung rotor design and integral motor, means the VGD range can be easily installed into small vacuum packaging machines.

The unit is fitted as standard with a fine mesh filter, vacuum non-return valve and oil separator. An extremely quiet unit, the VGD 11 model offers average noise levels of 62 dB(A), while the VGD 16 and 21 models deliver average noise levels of 65 dB(A).

At the show, Gardner Denver will have an on-stand competition for IFFA visitors in the form of the ‘Innovation Box’, offering attendees the chance to win the prize inside the box should they get the right code to unlock it. Goodie bags will also be available, and Gardner Denver is inviting visitors to attend stand E56 in hall 11 at 4:00pm every day, to ask its experts any questions about the latest vacuum technology while enjoying specially-sourced food and beverages from the local region.

Iain Cunningham, Food Sector Manager at Gardner Denver, explains: “As the number one exhibition for the meat industry, IFFA seemed an ideal event to launch our newest vacuum technology, the next generation C-VLR, while highlighting other new vacuum innovations such as the VSI 600 and VGD range.

“Flexible and efficient, the C-VLR 62 & 122 pump has also been designed to allow operators easy access to the pumping chamber for fast maintenance, resulting in less downtime for the customer. It features a lower number of moving parts than competitor models too, ensuring efficient and cost-effective operation with less opportunity for any maintenance issues to arise. And with no sealing or lubrication fluids required in the pump’s compression chamber too, this makes it a very environmentally-friendly product for meat packaging and processing companies.

“With around 63,000 visitors expected to attend IFFA, we are proud to be showcasing the next generation of vacuum technology at this high-profile event. Offering improved efficiency and flexibility, our extensive range of vacuum pumps provide effective solutions to meet the needs and demands of leading food organisations around the world.”
