LORIEN EXPANDS TEAM WITH NEW MANAGEMENT APPOINTMENTS

12 February 2020

Lorien Engineering Solutions has made four management appointments to its UK team based at Burton-upon-Trent, following a series of new business wins.

The multi-disciplinary engineering and project management business has doubled the size of its project management team with the appointment of Owain Davies, Richard Mullan, Darren Toon and Ben Tomlinson. The new Project Managers will support the company’s senior management and directors and drive further growth.

Owain Davies brings 12 years’ experience as a project engineer and manager with expertise gained at 3M and Molston Coors. He joins Lorien from process engineering company Briggs of Burton, where he designed and implemented engineering projects across a range of business sectors.

At Lorien, he will have a strategic Engineering, Procurement, Construction Management (EPCM) role within the food, brewery and life sciences sectors, as well as a focus on stakeholder management.

Richard Mullan has 12 years’ experience in the civil and structural engineering sectors. After gaining experience at Siemens AG and MTE, he was most recently senior project engineer with engineering and plant construction company Primetals Technologies, specialising in metallurgical solutions for plant builders and steel producers, working in India and Taiwan.

At Lorien he will specialise in building and civil engineering on CAPEX Projects to augment the existing capabilities of the in-house structural engineering department.

Darren Toon is a Mechanical & Production Engineer with a successful track record in water, waste, renewable energy, pharmaceutical and FMCG project delivery. He joins Lorien from Musk Process Services where he was most recently project manager managing contractors on client FMCG projects.

At Lorien, he will lead on projects in the food sector including the product relocation and expansion for a major food manufacturer.

Ben Tomlinson graduated in Mechanical Engineering from Sheffield Hallam University before gaining experience with Evoqua Water Technologies and Able Stainless Fabrications Limited overseeing procurement and fabrication. He first joined Lorien as a Project Engineer in 2014 working in the process and utilities sector, before moving to BT Engineering.

Ben rejoined Lorien in March 2019 and has now been promoted to project manager, working on a large food manufacturing project within the process department.

Phil Colquhoun, Head of Projects at Lorien Engineering Solutions said: “We are delighted to welcome Owain, Richard, Darren and Ben to the expanding Lorien team. They bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to further strengthen our capability to deliver first class engineering and project management across the UK. They join us at time when a successful year has culminated in a number of new, multi-sector client wins and we continue to recruit staff across the business as a result.”

Lorien Engineering Solutions, a division of GP Strategies Corporation, specialises in engineered capital projects for the food, brewing, drinks, life sciences, advanced manufacturing, and logistics sectors, and offers a range of safety compliance services.
