A celebration of Motion Control Engineering Excellence

Held on the evening of Tuesday 10th April 2018, at the National Conference Centre near Birmingham, the 3rd annual Motion Control Industry Awards Dinner once again provided a wonderful celebration of business and professional excellence.Co-located with a suite of automation and control exhibitions at the adjacent NEC, which collectively serve the motion control arena, the key facets of personal endeavour, technical innovation, engineering advancement and commercial acumen were all acknowledged and rewarded.
Hosted by Broadcaster and Journalist, Helen Fospero, with a stunning musical performance by the fabulous Siren, the evening was heralded a great success. The achievements and endeavours of some 37 Finalists were presented to the enthralled 250 strong audience in an atmosphere of great anticipation, before the nine worthy winners were revealed as follows:

Stephen Wright, Managing Director at Thorite, said of his achievement: "I view winning the 'Distributor of the Year' award for the second year running as further recognition of all the hard work that we do to support our customers. We're also particularly proud this year to reach the final stage of the 'Contribution to Skills and Training' category. This is the first time we have entered this award category and the work we do with customers through our Thorite Academy is reflected in this result. The fact that the awards are judged by an independent panel makes the event even more rewarding."
Another happy winner, Dr Susan Scurlock of Primary Engineer, who took home the 'Contribution to Skills & Training' Award, enthused, "I have to seriously thank everyone at Primary Engineer for letting Liam Weatherill, Chris Rochester and I have a fabulous time at the Motion Control Industry Awards Ceremony on Tuesday!! Without you we would not have picked up such an award; your dedication and hard work is obviously valued and appreciated not just by us!
Thanks also for the fantastic support of the Chief Executives and Presidents of both BFPA and BCAS who left us in no doubt that the industry sets great store in our work, and the need to ensure that our current school children have the skills, knowledge and awareness of the tremendous opportunities that await them within it.

Chris Buxton, Director & CEO of the BFPA summed up the event as follows, "This year's MCI Awards ceremony, like those in past years, was a great success.
