ABB selected as automation partner for BASF’s Verbund project in Guangdong, China

ABB is supporting the BASF Zhanjiang Verbund site in China with its automation and digital technologies.
Helping the BASF Verbund site achieve its smart and sustainable operations ambition, ABB will deploy its market-leading distributed control system ABB Ability™ System 800xA® to connect and unify all operations across the related clusters plants that will make up the complex. As a result, operators will be able to review every aspect of production in real time, monitoring related assets and processes, and adapting and improving operations as and when required.

We have worked closely with BASF’s Zhanjiang site team to robustly prepare for its implementation ensuring it will operate successfully and intrinsically with all of our solutions across their site,” said Brandon Spencer, President of ABB Energy Industries.
As the main automation coordinator, ABB will also support the BASF Zhanjiang site’s program management team to coordinate automation, instrumentation, and valve suppliers for the project. ABB also supports to ensure standardization and a modular approach that can be adopted by all suppliers, prioritizing compliance, efficiency, and speed.
