USB adapter for diagnostics and commissioningNuremberg, Germany. The Siemens Industry Automation Division extends its range of Profibus PC modules with the Simatic PC Adapter USB A2. The external USB(Universal Serial Bus) adapter links standard PCs, notebooks or programming devices to Profibus systems such as Simatic S7 controllers via their USB 2.0 port.
The PC Adapter USB A2 enables the connection of programming devices, notebooks or PCs with an USB port to Simatic S7 controls. The connection can be established by using either the MPI (Multi Point Interface) or the Profibus port of Simatic S7 systems for diagnostics or commissioning for instance. The adapter comes with three LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes) to display operating and signal statuses. The adapter features plug and play technology for extreme simplicity of installation and commissioning. All Profibus data rates up to 12 Mbaud, operating systems from Windows XP SP2 as well as USB V1.1, V2.0 and V3.0 are supported. The adapter is powered via the USB port of the PC system. The new device can also be used for the same programs as its predecessor. Applications created for the predecessor model can be used with the new adapter.
