Atlas Copco acquires gas treatment specialists Cirmac

Atlas Copco in the UK has announced the acquisition by its sister organisation, Atlas Copco Nederland BV, of Cirmac International BV. Cirmac specialises in biogas upgrading systems for the renewable energy industry and also supplies gas treatment systems for applications within oil, gas and chemical processes.

Complementing Atlas Copco's existing portfolio of high-pressure compressor solutions and nitrogen generation equipment, Cirmac's product offerings will further support Atlas Copco's expansion in these areas in the UK. "The acquisition of Cirmac brings innovative developments in the important fields of gas treatment and biogas upgrading systems to Atlas Copco", commented Leen van Diggele, Atlas Copco UK Managing Director, "and it will enable us to extend our offer of sustainable, renewable energy solutions."

Established in 1979, Cirmac designs, markets and services systems that upgrade biogas to biomethane for natural gas grid mains supply, for transport fuel, and sewage treatment applications. The company also offers bespoke gas purification and nitrogen generation systems to meet the high-purity product requirements of land based and off-shore process operations. It is a leading innovator of membrane separation and Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA molecular sieve) techniques.
