Atlas Copco, a global leader in mobile compressors, launches the X-Air+ 900-435 in the USA, a silenced, two-stage, oil-injected screw compressor designed for demanding drilling applications. The new high-pressure compressor combines advanced compressor management with a wide working pressure range, helping increase productivity while controlling fuel consumption and operating costs.
Atlas Copco expands its high-pressure air compressor portfolio with the launch of the X-Air+ 900-435. Built with a focus on reliability, user friendliness, and easy maintenance, the compressor is designed for drilling environments where consistent airflow and high pressure are essential. It delivers up to 900 cfm of air flow with a maximum working pressure of 436 psi, allowing operators to handle demanding drilling tasks with a single machine.
At the heart of the compressor is Atlas Copco’s dual-stage screw element, powered by a Caterpillar C9.3B diesel engine that delivers the power needed for high-pressure drilling operations. Designed to operate in ambient temperatures ranging from -13°F to 122°F, the compressor performs reliably in both cold and hot job site conditions.
Optimized compressor performance
The X-Air+ 900-435 integrates AirXpert 2.0, Atlas Copco’s compressor management system that continuously balances airflow and pressure. Operators can adjust one parameter while the compressor automatically adapts the other, helping drilling teams achieve optimal performance for specific drilling conditions. This technology allows contractors to drill more feet per hour while keeping fuel consumption under control.
The compressor also features OilXpert technology, which actively regulates oil temperature to control condensation levels and protect critical compressor components. By maintaining stable lubrication conditions, the system helps extend the lifetime of compressor oil and internal elements during demanding drilling operations.
Real-time machine monitoring
Operators use the Xc4004 Smart Air controller to operate the machine; it displays key parameters including airflow, pressure, fuel consumption, and engine load. The controller provides clear, real-time insights into machine performance and allows operators to adjust settings directly from the control panel.
For fleet operators managing multiple machines, the compressor can also connect to FleetLink, Atlas Copco’s fleet monitoring system. FleetLink provides remote access to operational data, enabling contractors to track machine performance, monitor fuel usage and identify service needs across their fleet.
Built for demanding job sites
In addition to performance, the X-Air+ 900-435 includes several features that improve reliability and simplify operation on demanding job sites. The compressor includes a 110% spillage-free containment frame, which helps prevent environmental contamination in the event of leaks and reduces cleanup costs.
Moreover, an integrated aftercooler and water separator as standard, gives operators the flexibility to choose between standard air and treated air for their various applications. The machine also features external fuel connections, allowing operators to refuel safely from external tanks and extend operating time without interrupting drilling activities.
“We focused on delivering a high output compressor within a compact footprint to fill a gap covering the 750 cfm / 350 psi set-point,” says Will Mazurek, Product Marketing Manager at Atlas Copco Power Technique North America. “With the X-Air+ 900-435, maximizing the performance, while keeping the machine as compact as possible, was the core focus in the development process – in fact, these were the top two inputs provided from our dealer partners. Delivering a compressor that combines high pressure performance, intelligent control, environmental protection, and partnership with dealers has resulted in a machine that helps improve fleet management and financial utilization. With this introduction, Atlas Copco now offers a full range of high-pressure compressors, providing the right machine for the application.”
