AVEVA appoints Maurizio Galardo as Chief Technologist

AVEVA, a global leader in industrial software and in the digital and sustainable transformation of enterprises, today announced the appointment of Maurizio Galardo as Fellow, Emerging Technology Investigation – Chief Technologist

In his new role, Galardo will be responsible for defining and leading strategies for the identification, validation, and support for incubation of high-potential emerging technologies, with a specific focus on accelerating the transition from exploratory research to scalable industrial solutions. He will shape AVEVA’s innovation agenda and help translate advanced research into tangible business outcomes. Working in close collaboration with cross-functional teams, Galardo will help connect technological vision, innovation governance, and customer value creation, acting as a bridge between long-term technological vision and a concrete near-term industrial impact, promoting a structured approach to experimentation and co-innovation.

The appointment represents a natural evolution of a professional career that combines technological research, applied innovation, and deep expertise in advanced visualization, XR, and 3D systems, with a distinctive ability to bridge frontier technologies and real-world industrial adoption.

Having joined AVEVA in 2017, Maurizio Galardo has held roles of increasing responsibility, culminating in his position as Chief Technologist XR within the global Research and Development organization. In this capacity, he contributed to the development of innovative solutions for advanced visualization and immersive technologies applied to industrial contexts.

A guide for digital industry technologies

Galardo’s career began in 2001 with the founding of DDD, a company specializing in VFX production. He later co-founded MWPowerLab Srl, a company focused on new technologies and computer vision for industrial applications, military simulation, and entertainment, developing numerous proprietary technologies. Alongside his industrial activity, since 2003 he has been teaching Image Compositing at IED Milan (Istituto Europeo di Design).

After nine years at AVEVA, during which he has provided advanced expertise in support of industrial digital transformation, in his new role Galardo will play a key part in fostering a culture of innovation based on experimentation, long-term vision, and collaboration with the technology ecosystem, helping AVEVA anticipate technological inflection points and translate them into competitive advantage, ensuring that research initiatives deliver distinctive value, measurable results, and sustainable growth for AVEVA and its customers.
