Biomass Power Joins Autodesk Clean Tech Program to Drive Development of Combustion Process Plants

New Start-up Achieves Cost-effective Design Process Thanks to Autodesk SoftwareFarnborough, UK - UK-based clean tech start-up, Biomass Power, is using 3D design and engineering software from Autodesk, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADSK) to develop innovative combustion process plants for power stations.
This follows the company's acceptance onto the Autodesk Clean Tech Partner Program, which supports the efforts, innovations and environmental advancements of clean technology pioneers, by providing world-class software that accelerates their development of solutions to the world's most pressing environmental challenges.
Biomass Power has already implemented a broad range of Autodesk software including Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD Plant 3D, Autodesk Vault and Autodesk Navisworks.
"Being able to use the Autodesk solutions enables us to design, visualise and simulate our ground-breaking ideas through the creation of digital models and prototypes," says Martin Riley, engineering director, Biomass Power. "With digital prototypes we can explore and communicate ideas, test multiple concepts and accelerate improvements while reducing potentially costly errors."
For Biomass Power, another key benefit of the Autodesk software is its ease of integration both with other Autodesk systems and with third party solutions. According to Riley, "prior to implementing Autodesk Inventor, linking to proprietary packages to handle steelwork and piping, for example, had always been a disjointed process. Using Inventor, not only allowed us to achieve high-quality modelling of combustion systems, it enabled us to seamlessly integrate to proprietary packages for steelwork piping, driving productivity and operational efficiency as a result."
Biomass Power also sees key benefits from the use of Autodesk® Vault data management software to store and manage designs and drawings, enabling it to quickly find and reuse design data and achieve more flexible and easier management of design and engineering information.
"Another great benefit of the Autodesk software is that it is easy to use," continues Riley, "which means existing and prospective designers and engineers across Biomass Power and our extended development team require only minimal training."
Throughout the implementation and roll-out of the design software, Biomass Power has been able to draw on the advice and technical support of Autodesk reseller partner, CADline.
