BLADE OF GLORY FOR AIR COMPRESSOR USERS

Leading rotary vane compressor specialists Mattei has launched BLADE, a new range of workshop compressors designed to meet the needs of small and medium sized businesses.

Every element of the BLADE compressor's design has been carefully considered to maximise performance, efficiency and to guarantee a long working life, ensuring excellent value for money for end users. Available with 4, 5.5 and 7.5kW motors and operating pressures of 8, 10 and 13 bar, BLADE rotary vane compressors offer high air output per kilowatt with exceptionally low noise levels, ideal for smaller workspaces and workshops.

To make the BLADE compressors easy to use, each unit has a Maestro XB programmable controller, installed as standard, to effectively match the operation of the compressor to the specific requirements of the customer's system. The user friendly controls have different programming levels, as well as special options for controlling operation and analysing faults.

The compact compressors are available as free standing units or on a 270L receiver, which take up no more than a square meter of space and feature Mattei's precision engineered cast iron blades - guaranteed for 100,000 hours - for optimum performance and efficiency throughout the life of the apparatus. BLADE compressors are also fitted with an aluminium combi-cooler to efficiently cool the oil and compressed air, to further increase reliability.

As with other Mattei products, the BLADE compressors use innovative technology that is built to last. Mattei airends rotate slower than other types of compressors, and the blades slide on a thin film of oil for frictionless operation and complete reliability. The company's compressors also have fewer moving parts than competitor products, as the rotor runs on bushes giving it a virtually unlimited life span.

With energy prices on the rise, Mattei has ensured that the BLADE compressors are efficient in operation to bring down the cost of ownership for small businesses - in fact, the use of rotary vane technology alone makes BLADE compressors around 20 per cent more efficient than other compressors.

Other energy saving features include a form of modulation when there is no demand for air for a short period of time - this triggers the solenoid blow down valve to significantly lower the internal pressure, thereby reducing energy consumption without having to stop the compressor. This also lessens on-off cycling to increase the lifespan of the equipment and it's motor.

Mattei has incorporated design ideas that help to reduce the frequency and cost of maintenance for its BLADE compressor range. For example, the design of the compressors ensures that the correct operating temperature is reached quickly and effectively, which is important in preventing internal condensation that can damage a rotary compressor and its internal components.

With BLADE compressors, the focus is firmly on preventative maintenance to ensure optimum performance, and less downtime for small business users. The motor to compression transmission is achieved through dual high efficiency toothed 'V' belts, with a sliding belt tensioner. This feature reduces belt wear and extends its operating life.

The compressors also offer a very efficient, integrated multi stage oil/air separation system for exceptionally low lubricant consumption and a residual oil carryover of just 3ppm. The large filter element and quality of materials used all guarantee a long working lifespan.

Andy Jones, general manager for Mattei said: "Supported by our undisputed product reliability, the new BLADE compressor range offers trusted performance and excellent value for money for lower air volume users. Quiet and compact, the rotary vane compressors fit effortlessly into smaller working environments. While they may be smaller than many of the compressors in our portfolio, quality and performance remains paramount, ensuring our small business customers can still access the same high quality and innovative features you would expect from a Mattei rotary vane compressor."
