BPMA Golf Day - The Winners!
16/06/2017 BPMA (British Pump Manufacturers Association Ltd)
This year's BPMA Golf Day took place on 25th May amidst the beautiful yet testing setting of the Heythrop Park Resort in the Cotswolds. The 7088 yard Bainbridge Course, which meanders over ridges and through valleys studded with ancient woodland, lakes and streams, provided a real challenge for all but the most proficient of players.
With a record number of teams entered this year, and to help speed things up slightly, players teed off from both the first and tenth tees at 10-minute intervals.
The course was bathed in glorious sunshine for the entire day, something which many players were unprepared for, given that rain, and in recent years torrential rain, has become something of the norm for this annual event!
The event enjoyed the support of several sponsors, including Croner, the award winning Health & Safety consultancy, who, in honour of previous events presented golfing umbrellas to each player upon arrival - a generous and kind gesture which clearly had a positive influence in the weather!
Thanks must also go to KSB for providing a set of Golf Balls for each player, Flowserve for providing the Trophies, FPS for the Pre-dinner Drinks, ABB for the Table Wine and finally Wilo for the provision of personalised Coasters for everyone. The support of each of these companies, allowed for a fantastic event to be thoroughly enjoyed by all those involved.
Following an excellent dinner served in the Enstone Suite, overlooking the beautifully manicured gardens, Ken Hall, Managing Director of Calpeda announced (in reverse order) the individual team scores. The winners were then presented with their Trophies by Grant Sinclair of Flowserve, as follows:-
Longest Drive - Jonathan Grace (pictured), Flowserve SIHI 'A'
Nearest the Pin - Jamie Stringer, Calpeda 'A'
1st Place- Flowserve
2nd Place- Wilo
3rd Place - Flowserve SIHI 'A'
Speaking after the event, BPMA Director and CEO, Steve Schofield said, "This event seems to get better and better with each year that passes and with such glorious whether and fantastic support, we couldn't have wanted for anything more this year. The golf may have be been challenging, but the course, the company and the hospitality were all excellent. I look forward to the same again next year."
The 2018 event will be held at Wychwood Park, near Crewe on Wednesday 24th May, for which bookings are already being taken.
