In Cologne, Germany, during the 1960s, igus was one of the first companies to develop and manufacture technical plastics for engineering, initially as a manufacturer of complex polymer components. In the 1980s, it began selling its own motion plastic bearings, energy chain systems and continuous flex cables direct to customers, before establishing its UK operation in 1991. The unique culture within the UK team creates a strong family feeling and commitment which benefits both igus and its customers across the UK.Over its 25 years, the business and organisation in the UK has grown and evolved enormously, moving from simple warehouse and stocking to assembly of complete systems to complex and varied customer specifications. As the igus product range continues to innovate, this helps to open up exciting opportunities to serve new customer applications and market opportunities.
