Chelsea demonstrates next generation of coastal and oceanographic monitoring sensors at Ocean Business

Justin Dunning will be demonstrating Chelsea's range of miniature, multi-wavelength Lux fluorimeters on board RV Callista during Ocean Business. "Since their launch last year, over 150 Lux fluorimeters are in use, having been snapped up by researchers in both the oceanographic and freshwater communities", said Justin Dunning, Sales Manager.

These fluorimeters can be configured to measure a wide range of oceanographic parameters including chlorophyll-a, turbidity, dissolved organic matter and tryptophan. However, the most popular application to date has been dye tracing and oil in water monitoring. The Lux range of fluorimeters has recently been augmented with a range of accessories which allow these small fluorimeters to used in almost any deployment scenario.

The Chelsea team will also be demonstrating the amazingly versatile Fast Repetition Rate Fluorimeters system, which has seen a significant increase in applications over the last two years. These range from fish survival assessment, coastal monitoring, iron fertilization experiments, algal bloom monitoring and water contamination detection. With increased functionality, detailed analysis of phytoplankton within the laboratory can now be achieved.
