Compact pressure reducing valve for seawater fire hydrants includes manual shut-off

An innovative pressure reducing valve for seawater fire hydrants has been introduced by Boiswood. The DM668E from Mankenberg is a diaphragm-controlled spring-loaded valve for medium flow rates and combines shut-off and pressure reducing functions.

Intended for use on offshore installations such as oil and gas platforms, this new medium-controlled valve offers accurate control while being easy to install and maintain. The pressure downstream of the valve is controlled without the use of pneumatic or electrical control elements.

Its spring module, comprising spring cap, spring, adjusting screw, diaphragm and internal components, is connected to the valve body by a quick release clamp ring and two bolts. This makes changing the diaphragm or the complete spring assembly for a different control pressure extremely simple without the need for special tools. Servicing and maintenance are also simplified.

A parallel spring arrangement makes the DM668E more compact than conventional valves. A quick response in emergencies is helped by the low breakaway torque of the large handwheel even after long downtime thanks to the high quality materials used and the placement of an O-ring below the thread.

The inlet pressure is 9-20 bar, while the outlet pressure range is 6-8.5 bar. A wide variety of hose couplings can be supplied. The Kvs flow rate is 14 m3/h.

The valve is made by deep drawing Titanium Grade 2, providing excellent corrosion resistance. The same material is also used for all components in contact with the medium. The use of deep drawing reduces delivery times since it makes them quicker to manufacture than cast valves.
