A new module expands the Siplus CMS2000 condition monitoring system from the Siemens Industry Automation Division with additional inputs for vibration sensors. The new VIB-MUX (vibration multiplexer) module is connected to the digital input of the condition monitoring system and offers eight interfaces for integrated electronics piezo electric (IEPE) vibration sensors. Altogether, Siplus CMS2000 can be expanded with two modules, thereby offering 16 connections for vibration sensors. Advantage for the user: not only can systems and machines be monitored more comprehensively than before, but the costs per channel and measurement point are also significantly reduced.
The use of Siplus CMS condition monitoring systems enables the status of components subject to wear - such as motors, pumps, bearings and other critical process components - to be monitored on a permanent basis. Apart from vibration data, Siplus CMS2000 also records speeds and the readings of pressure and temperature sensors via additional inputs. From the continuous recording of the sensor data, users can recognize the early signs of wear and imminent failures by analyzing trend curves. In this way, maintenance work can be better planned in the form of predictive maintenance and can be coordinated with the production cycle. The result: downtimes can be minimized by the use of condition monitoring systems and the availability and service life of the plant extended. In addition, the high costs of total failures and consequential damage can be avoided.
