Dormer's new generation of Spectrum Cutters to bring down costs
05/09/2011 Dormer Tools Ltd
Dormer Tools has unveiled a new range of Spectrum Cutters to support all milling operations, from slotting to finishing.Available with two, three and four flutes in a choice of cut lengths and shank styles, the range is part of Dormer's latest 'D.Pack' and includes key additions to their Spectrum branded programme of high performance multi-material tools.
A total of 16 products are being made available which will replace a number of different ranges - each of which featured overlapping products - helping to simplify the selection process for customers.
A new aluminium chromium nitride coating proven to improve performance in a wide range of operations, both wet and dry is applied to all Spectrum cutters. With this, recommended cutting speeds are higher compared to the outgoing ranges, helping to increase productivity, resulting in time and money savings.
Dormer has also developed a reduction of the end teeth rake and primary clearance angles to improve the strength of the new Spectrum cutters, reducing the likelihood of chipping on the cutting edge, leading to extended tool life.
John O'Donoghue, general manager Dormer Tools UK, said: "Dormer's new product strategy has been formulated to make it as easy as possible for the customer to choose the tool that best meets their needs and expectations.
"The Spectrum brand is all about versatility, which means it can cover a multitude of materials and general operations with consistently high performance, good finish quality, and increased tool life and process reliability.
"Therefore, it has been necessary to design this new family of cutters, not only to increase performance and reliability, but also to make it easier for the customer to choose the optimum cutter for their application.
"Spectrum Cutters are the universal high performance cutters for a wide range of materials, providing significant advantage for customers requiring good performance, without the complication of having many different tools."
The new cutters are also available through Dormer's recently expanded 'D.Rapid' fast quotation and turnaround service for customer-specific products. Benefits of the service include generation of drawing and price within 24 hours and a total manufacturing time of ten working days.
