Eat Out to Help Out - supply chain recognition

The Government's 'Eat Out to Help Out' campaign is the ideal opportunity to highlight the 'behind the scenes' collaboration and sense of community throughout the chain. That is the view of Jason Webb, director at Electronic Temperature Instruments (ETI), a digital thermometer manufacturer, producing digital and infrared thermometers for the food and drink service industry.

Jason Webb comments: "The Government's 'Eat Out to Help Out' campaign is the ideal opportunity to highlight the 'behind the scenes' collaboration and sense of community throughout the chain as we support catering facilities during these challenging times. What we call 'farm to plate' is in overdrive and recognition must be paid from fruit pickers to farmers to delivery drivers to manufacturers. All are playing a crucial role to ensure food and drink service suppliers are provided with and serving produce that meets critical food safety standards. Organisations are introducing proactive steps in catering operations to keep people safe and the business free from health & safety dangers and we've been pleased to see that any concerns around food temperature monitoring are also being addressed. The coronavirus crisis has demonstrated the impact that any deviation from the norm, such as building closures, fluctuations in employee numbers, and changes to supply chains, can have on food storage. The last thing anyone needs as we start to settle in the norm is a wave of food poisoning cases, which are frequently caused by bacteria from foods which have been incorrectly stored, handled and prepared. Not only does this risk the health of the customer, but it will also have a detrimental impact on a business' reputation."
