EEF appoints new policy head for climate, energy and environment

EEF, the manufacturers' organisation, has appointed Claire Jakobsson (pictured) as its new Head of Climate, Energy and Environment Policy. She will be taking over the reins following Gareth Stace's departure from the role to become Director of UK Steel.Claire will be leading a team of three policy experts and will be responsible for advancing the interests of manufacturing in the environment and sustainability space. She will also be key in shaping EEF's stance and support for manufacturers on issues such as the Business Energy Efficiency Taxation Review, the Energy Intensive Compensation Package and the reform of the EU Emissions Trading Scheme.
Claire has a BSc in Veterinary Science and also holds a Graduate Diploma in Law. After starting her career as a Senior Policy Adviser at the Parliamentary Resources Unit, she has held a number of senior public affairs and policy positions in organisations including Bell Pottinger, the Conservative Environment Network and Opower.
Prior to joining EEF she was working as a freelance consultant, providing advice on political and policy challenges, particularly around waste, renewable energy and environment.
