Engineering Women: Are They Returning to work? Conference, 23 June 2015

There is only one week to go before the Women's Engineering Society annual conference on women in engineering, and this year the theme is Women Returners.The WES says "We are losing skills and resources by not retaining our women engineers, but more than that we are not utilising these engineers as our ambassadors in the community. How can we maximise their value and talents during their career breaks, and how can we use this engagement as a win win situation to ensure that women return to engineering afterwards? Come and find out at the WES conference on National Women in Engineering Day, 23 June, in London."

Speakers include Jo Swinson, Kate Bellingham, Jenny Young (RAEng), Catherine Lewis (Goldman Sachs), Katie Perry (Daphne Jackson Trust), Julianne Miles (Women Returners), Julie Thornton (Thames Tideway), Clem Herman (Open University), Sue Ferns (Prospect Union), Vicky Evans (Arup), Saphina Sharif (Atkins), Chantelle Ludski (Hyder Consulting), Rachel Morris (Laing O'Rourke), Katy Ghahremani (Make Architects), Trudie Savage and Alison Green (Airbus), Anna Blackwell (National Grid) and Oliver Black (My Family Care). The conference sessions will be chaired by Meg Munn, Philippa Oldham (IMechE) and Kim Pamplin (P&G).
In parallel sessions some Continued Professional Development on Personal and Career Development will be offered by two experienced coaches in Susan Room and Carol Stewart, and WES members will be offered the chance to learn more about the Magnificent Women schools outreach programme, and how they can be involved in this in the future.

Women in Motorsport Evening Event
The WES conference is followed by an evening event to celebrate National Women in Engineering Day, to be held at the same venue, called Beating the Competition: Making a Difference in Motorsport, organised by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. Register for this event here.
