ENHANCED PRODUCTIVITY AND BOTTOM-LINE BENEFITS OF ULTRA-FAST HIGH-RESOLUTION 3D MEASUREMENT TO BE SHOWCASED AT SUBCON 2011

The importance of fast, accurate and high resolution measurement in reducing time to market and so delivering competitive advantage is to be showcased to visitors at SubCon 2011, the subcontract manufacturing show, to be held at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham from 7-9 June 2011.

On stand M47, Leicestershire-based 3D measurement specialist Phase Vision will display its state-of-the-art Quartz range of white light scanners which can deliver several million precision measurement points of the surfaces of objects with even the most complex geometries in a matter of seconds.

Ralph Weir of Phase Vision commented: "In many manufacturing sectors, metrology continues to be a bottleneck for delivering fast design turnaround, production tooling and high resolution quality assurance. Our technology can cut product cycles by days or weeks in some cases, providing an important competitive edge for design and manufacturing subcontractors competing for vital contracts.

"The ability to rapidly verify the accuracy of either tooling or a first-off article against CAD plays a major part in this, allowing the manufacturing process to be set in motion straight away and the contract fulfilled. Companies that can offer this combination of speed and accuracy will be those who are best placed to win orders and extract maximum profit margin from the contract.

"Increasingly we are working with clients who see the measurement process as a key aid to productivity - and ultimately the bottom line - as they can quickly and easily demonstrate compliance with customer requirements and manufacturing tolerances, optimising their productivity while delivering a rapid service and peace of mind for their customers.

"Our highly scalable systems are suitable for small components right through to large fully assembled products and require only basic operator training. Highly accurate 3D representations are captured within a matter of a seconds and ready for CAD comparison and inspection."
