Enhanced service assures quality for businesses

Siemens Industry Automation & Drive Technologies has enhanced its Solution Partners programme to respond to the specific needs of businesses in an increasingly competitive marketplace.

One of the major improvements to the scheme has been the development of the skills and expertise modules that Solution Partners need to pass to be certified as Siemens' partners. By undertaking and passing the modules, solutions providers demonstrate they have reached the highest level of quality and competence in all areas of assessment, including sector and technologically-specific expertise.

Stephen Hughes, General Manager at Siemens Industry Automation & Drive Technologies (IA&DT), comments: "We are committed to delivering the highest quality solutions and products to businesses, but we can only do this by ensuring the companies that specify and install our technology have a detailed understanding of the products and how they can perform. It is for this reason that we have enhanced our Solution Partners programme to ensure that any company specifying or installing a Siemens product, will do so to the highest quality standards and have the expertise to recommend the most suitable solution for any given requirement.

"For end user businesses to truly compete in any tough marketplace, they need access to the most operationally efficient and technologically-advanced solutions and services. It is also crucial that they reduce their exposure to risk and ensure they instigate only the most efficient option when working with partner organisations. It is for this reason that we've enhanced our programme to make sure we are totally confident in the abilities of our partners to deliver such a service."

Siemens IA&DT assesses the performance of its partners across a number of areas, including the depth and quality of their market expertise. Each partner needs to clearly demonstrate it has tried-and-tested proven experience to be able to specify and install Siemens' products effectively and safety.

In addition, Siemens also requests that two engineers from each partner need to be tested and certified by Siemens on each area of the Siemens programme (of which there are 24 modules). This certification process needs to be renewed every two years to ensure the engineers are fully up-to-date with the performance capabilities of the product range and the latest advancements in Siemens' technology. The modules cover a range of areas from Siemens' Automation System, SIMATIC to Drives, Industrial Energy Efficiency and Micro Automation.

Businesses can select which Solution Partner to contact regarding their needs by accessing Siemens' Solution Partner extranet. Available at www.automation.siemens.com/providerv2/partnerfinder/SolutionPartner.aspx, it provides details on previous projects, and areas of expertise including sector and technological specialisms.
