Exico brings in local expert for Scottish motor users

Fast growing motor supplier Exico UK has appointed Aberdeen-based Miland as its latest distributor, covering AB, IV and DD postcode areas in Scotland with a particular focus for the region north of Dundee.

Miland is a specialist distributor of electrical, instrumentation, control and automation (EICA) products and has over 30 years' experience with these fields. It serves industries as diverse as oil and gas, petrochemical, marine, pharmaceutical, and food and beverage, all of which are well represented in Scotland. Naturally the oil and gas sector is an important focus for Miland, as Aberdeen is well established as the centre of the UK industry.

"The north of Scotland has a distinct and diverse economy," says Miland's Managing Director Eric Anderson, "which we use to our advantage by working across many sectors so that have a good degree of stability. This reflects in our client base, which includes OEMs, panel builders, systems integrators, service companies, engineering companies and the end users."

Exico's motor range is a good fit with Miland's activities because as well as single-phase (IE1) and three-phase (IE2, IE3 & IE4), it also includes ATEX explosion-proof motors; marine motors; medium and high voltage motors. Complementing the motors Exico supplies variable speed drives, gearboxes, accessories such as brakes, fans, encoders and slide and coolant pumps for machine tools. It also builds integrated drive packages and bespoke motors.

Based in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, Exico's Sales Director Lucie Hodkova explains: "Having a first class national distributor network is vital for us because we need good geographic coverage and expert representation in all our key sectors, many of which are active in the north of Scotland. With Miland on board I am confident we can achieve critical mass in the region, steadily serving the needs of the industry year on year."

There are many Exico motor users around Britain, which Lucie keeps updated with information on the latest energy efficiency standards and other developments.

"Electric motor technology is always evolving, particularly with reference to today's need for efficiency, so motor users always need support and that is often best done through expert regional distributors like Miland," says Lucie.
