FASTER, SAFER SLITTING TOOL FOR FLEXIBLE CONDUIT
28/02/2011 Atkore Flexicon Ltd
Flexicon has launched a slitting tool for non-metallic flexible conduit to help avoid accidents on site and to make the process faster and simpler. The simple to use hand tool has a protected blade and fits inside the conduit. The contractor then slides it along the length of the flexible conduit to slit it. It can be used on all corrugated conduit diameters down to 13mm.
When used with the recently launched slit conduit insertion tool, cutting the conduit and then inserting cabling laterally into this, is an estimated four times faster. The company also sells slit conduit to order.
Says Colin Legg, marketing manager for Flexicon: "When contractors want to insert cabling into conduit laterally they would traditionally cut it using a Stanley knife. This can be fiddly and time consuming and is a potential health and safety hazard.
"While we do sell slitted conduit, there are occasions when an installer may only need a short length, which is why we have introduced this simple hand tool."
