FEMALE STAFF MEMBERS AT MORGAN TUCKER FLY THE FLAG HIGH FOR WOMEN IN CONSTRUCTION

THREE female members of the team at leading consulting engineers Morgan Tucker are celebrating after being praised in prestigious national awards which highlight the successes of women in construction.

Alison Ward and Rosie Nolan (pictured) last night (March 26) attended the national Women in Construction awards, after both were shortlisted in separate award categories. Alison was shortlisted in the engineer of the year category and Rosie was shortlisted in the best starter under 25 section.

The awards ceremony took at The Point at Lancashire County Cricket Club.

Reflecting on the success of both Alison and Rosie for being shortlisted for this industry award, managing director at Morgan Tucker Matthew Tucker said he was delighted that his staff were flying the flag high for women in construction.

He said: "Alison is approaching a year in employment with us and she has made tremendous contributions to the Civil Engineering team. Alison has been instrumental in the design and management of a major highways scheme in the Midlands with a construction contract value over £2.5m. She is a shining example to women looking to become engineers.

"Rosie is one of our graduate transport planners. She defies her young age with a mature attitude. She is a real self- starter, very ambitious and always shows initiative. She continues to grow in confidence and has embraced any challenges presented making fantastic gains for the business.

"I'm thrilled that two of our female members of staff have shone in these national awards and proud that they are setting an example for other women who may be considering a career in construction."

Another success for the firm recently was that of Venezia Ross-Gilmore, senior transport planner and chartered town planner, who was highly commended in the RTPI East Midlands Young Planner award night in February.

Venezia said: "I am delighted to be highly commended in these awards and proud to have my contribution to the Young Planners network recognised in this way.

"I hope to continue my work in promoting the East Midlands young planners over the coming months, before I stand down from chairing the sub-committee in June. I would like to thank Morgan Tucker for supporting me and the East Midlands young planners over the last two years, and to receive this in the firm's 10th anniversary year makes this particularly special."
