Global energy showtime set to begin for process filter manufacturer

A UK process filter manufacturer is leveraging a series of global energy sector events to highlight how its input can help improve efficiency, extend operational lifetimes and reduce OPEX.
Amazon Filters’ first stop is the Offshore Technology Conference OTC Asia 2026 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from 31 March to 2 April 2026.
The 41-year-old firm is partnering for the event with Southeast Asia regional distributor Diamond Offshore, a Bumiputera company and Petronas-registered vendor.
Senior representatives from Amazon Filters and Diamond Offshore will showcase two Malaysian case studies in particular.
In the first, they will explain how, together, they conducted a comprehensive contaminant analysis to help with an issue at a naphtha hydrotreating plant.
Their recommended solution was meltblown VisClear II filters, which are ideally suited for fluid streams where the particle size distribution is wide.
“Once installed, they were checked after three weeks and found to be affording excellent protection to the catalyst beds within the hydrotreater,” said Mohamed Nizam Mohamed Hanifa, Amazon Filters’ Kuala Lumpur-based Business Development Manager for Southeast Asia. “As well as the improved filtrate quality, the upshot since has been a seven-times increase in lifetime.
“Coupled with this are significant savings on the costs of filter consumables and repair and maintenance time.”
The second case study involves catalyst protection on a diesel hydrotreating unit and the introduction of a new product, Nylon HFC SupaPleat.
Process engineers at the plant reported several problems around the service life of filters used to produce Euro 5 diesel.
An initial assessment found the housings were severely undersized and the filters, utilising glass microfibre media, were becoming stuck in the tube sheets and lasting a maximum of just three days. The incoming hot feed was melting the media, so clogging the downstream strainer.
“The implications of excessive filter consumable costs and potential filter bypass due to filter damage had to be addressed,” said Nizam. “We worked closely with the company's process engineers to establish a more suitable filtration media in terms of material compatibility and efficiency rating.
“We made several prototype filters of varying micron ratings for proving trials both in terms of performance and fit.
“Since installation, the new filters have demonstrated a significant increase in on-stream life.
“The hydrotreating process is run at different capacity levels depending on demand and our filters have helped to extend stream life at all different process capacities.”
OTC Asia is one of the Asia-Pacific region’s premier offshore energy events, bringing together industry leaders, technical professionals and members of the research and academic communities.
Fazli Ibrahim, Diamond Offshore’s Malaysian-based Chief Executive, said: “Together, we and Amazon Filters will aim to demonstrate to OTC Asia attendees that robust and cost-efficient filtration is essential to meet the rigorous demands of global oil and gas producers.”
Other upcoming energy sector events that Amazon Filters is focusing on include the Petrochemical and Refining Congress Europe, taking place in Amsterdam in May, followed at the end of June by the Sabah Oil, Gas & Energy Conference & Exhibition in Borneo.
Later in the year, attention will turn to Oil and Gas Asia in September in Kuala Lumpur and OGET (Oil & Gas and Petrochemical Technology) in Thailand in October.
