Online Measurement Capability Increases Efficiency By Yielding Higher Quality ContainerboardHELSINKI, Finland, Sept 21, 2011 - Honeywell (NYSE:HON) today announced that Hamburger Pitten, a leading global producer of containerboard, has upgraded its production line with the installation of two Honeywell Experion® MX Quality Control Systems (QCS) systems, which will be used to improve product quality.
The Experion MX QCS incorporates Honeywell Process Solutions' (HPS) Q4000 scanner - the world's fastest scanner, with speeds of up to 1,200 mm/s. This measurement technology allows Hamburger Pitten to have a better view of the production process and the ability to more quickly and effectively spot and correct quality issues, thus reducing off-spec product and allowing for increased production rates. HPS will also provide ongoing service and support to assure availability and reliability of their production assets.,
Hamburger Pitten is part of the Prinzhorn Holdings, which operates eight production lines across Europe. The company produces 1 million tons of paper per year, much of it distributed under the Austroliner, RiegerLiner and SpreeWhite brands.
"We selected HPS because of their industry experience, technical know-how and ability to support our mill operations locally," said Ing. Werner Ofenböck, production director, Hamburger Pitten. "We are already a Honeywell customer, and our positive experience with the company's products means it was an easy decision to make. We believe that Experion MX will provide us with better process visibility, lower costs and increased customer satisfaction, and we expect a lower overall cost of ownership than before."
"Quality, flexibility and cost reduction is vital to success in the paper-making industry," said Marco Jamsen, business director for Pulp, Paper and Printing EMEA, Honeywell Process Solutions. "Hamburger Pitten expects to double production to two million tons in the medium term. By installing a superior product like Experion MX, they will have the competitive advantage to help them achieve their goal."
