High precision gearing specialist Harmonic Drive is to exhibit at the Engineering Design Show in Coventry later this year. At the exhibition, which is taking place from 19 to 20 October, 2016 at the Ricoh Arena, Harmonic Drive will be showcasing its range of servo actuators and gears. The products on display on stand G50 are ideally suited to support design engineers creating innovative solutions for applications across robotics, automation, medical, defence and aerospace sectors. One of the products the Harmonic Drive team will be showcasing at this year's event is its CanisDrive range of compact hollow shaft servo actuators. The range incorporates the company's newly developed high capacity drive bearings. This means that the external load can be directly mounted without the need for additional bearings or support. As a result, the CanisDrive line is lightweight and more compact, without compromising the gear's high precision.
"Our CanisDrive range is the first time we've used our CobaltLine gears in a servo actuator," said Graham Mackrell, managing director of Harmonic Drive UK. "These gears were designed to provide repeatable high peak-torques with zero backlash and lifetime precision. Using the ColbaltLine gear means our CanisDrive actuators are able offer a 30 percent higher maximum torque than standard actuators.
"Design engineers operating in medical, automation or robotics sectors are increasingly expected to produce innovative products that are more compact and portable while also being more accurate and reliable. Using gears and actuators that are compact, powerful and that you can rely on to be accurate for the lifetime of the product you are developing opens up new opportunities to creatively meet the needs of your market."
The Engineering Design Show is now in its fifth year and provides visitors and exhibitors with a platform to discuss the constantly changing market requirements design engineers have to navigate.
