Hexagon unveils VISIUS: The affordable, high-speed optical CMM solving the skills gap for European manufacturers

  • Hexagon unveils VISIUS, an affordable and intuitive optical CMM designed to address the skills gap and quality demands of European manufacturers with advanced, user-friendly metrology technology.

  • VISIUS offers high-precision ISO 10360 standard-compliant non-contact measurement with optional touch probe and chromatic white light sensor capabilities,

  • Supporting software provides AI-driven surface defect detection and simplifies integration into high-mix, high-volume production environments.

Hexagon introduces VISIUS, an optical coordinate measuring machine (CMM) that addresses critical challenges facing European manufacturers. Designed to support high-mix, high-volume production environments, VISIUS combines precision, versatility, and ease of use in a single, affordable metrology system anyone can use.

As manufacturers across Europe face increasing pressure to deliver high-quality components while managing a widening skills gap, the need for intuitive metrology solutions has never been greater. VISIUS addresses these challenges by running on Hexagon’s Metus metrology software. This platform ensures ease of use and requires minimal training, allowing operators of all skill levels to efficiently set up and programme the machine. This accessibility empowers manufacturers to maintain rigorous quality standards without relying solely on specialised metrologists.

"For too long, manufacturers have faced a tough choice in quality inspection", said Khader Ghattas, Product Manager Optical CMMs at Hexagon. "They either invest in expensive, precise tools requiring skilled operators or rely on affordable manual methods like callipers and micrometers, which lack the precision for consistent results. That’s why we developed VISIUS – advanced technology in a user-friendly design, enabling manufacturers to achieve exceptional results without overspending."

The machine is ideal for manufacturers looking for an accessible entry point into automated vision metrology. VISIUS combines ISO 10360 standard-compliant accuracy non-contact vision measurement with optional touch probe and chromatic white light sensor capabilities. Furthermore, it integrates with Visual Detection, Hexagon's AI-based tool for automated surface defect detection, enabling users to quickly set up automated analyses that identify surface irregularities alongside dimensional inspection.

Hexagon invites industry professionals to experience VISIUS firsthand at the upcoming Southern Manufacturing and Electronics exhibition in the UK, as well as at scheduled events throughout France and Italy this quarter.
