HONEYWELL'S PRECISION FOTOFIBER WINS FRENCH PAPER INDUSTRY INNOVATION AWARD

Solution's Cutting-Edge Technology and Impact on Productivity, Quality and the Environment Recognised by ATIP

GRENOBLE, France, February 17, 2011 - Honeywell (NYSE:HON) today announced its Precision FotoFiber solution has won the Paper Industry Technical Association's (ATIP) Silver Palm Award, which recognizes innovation in the French paper industry. The solution was commended for its cutting-edge technology, ability to boost productivity and quality, and reduce environmental impact and cost. Honeywell accepted the award at the ATIP gala dinner which was attended by 250 global and European papermakers and industry suppliers.

"This award underscores our strategy to infuse the latest technology and thinking into our paper and board solutions," said Jack Ross, marketing director, Pulp & Paper, Honeywell Process Solutions. "Precision FotoFiber is a true breakthrough in high-speed image analysis that saves paper and board makers time and money."

Precision FotoFiber is a fiber orientation-angle sensor that helps paper and board makers improve overall product quality while reducing waste and lowering production costs. The sensor - ideal for manufacturing large product runs of newsprint, fine paper, containerboard, and folding boxboard - minimizes the need for manual monitoring by mill personnel. Its camera and powerful illumination technology automatically adjusts to varying machine speeds and sheet surface characteristics to capture high-quality sheet surface images.

This automated approach helps reduce variations in web fiber orientation profiles, which can cause a range of imperfections in paper and board products such as stack-lean or paper jams in sheet-fed devices, misregister in colour printing, twist in multilayer board, and weakened corrugated containerboard. The sensor allows mill personnel to electronically monitor fiber orientation throughout the entire production process, alerting supervisors immediately if a product deviates from standards. Precision FotoFiber's ability to eliminate paper waste minimises environmental impact and can result in annual savings of as much as several hundred thousand US dollars.
