Honeywell's TruStability® Pressure Sensors Chosen by SMAY for their iSWAY-FC Series Compact Pressurization Units.

SMAY, a leading Polish manufacturer and supplier of HVAC systems, has chosen the company's TruStability® board mount pressure sensors with diagnostic function and digital output to monitor differential pressure for variable air volume control, static duct pressure, clogged filter detection, transmitters, and indoor air quality.

Honeywell Sensing and Control (S&C) provided the sensors that are used for the iSWAY-FC series compact pressurization units, designated for overpressure protection of both vertical and horizontal escape routes in the various buildings in case of fire. Due to the applied control system and wide range of accessories, these units can be used to protect spaces even with a complicated building design, with different cubature like lift-shafts or stairs. Due to its compact design and structure, the iSWAY-FC series compact pressurization units can be assembled almost anywhere inside the building, like technical floors, roof level or ground level.

According to the energy efficiency European directive 2012/27/EU, by 2020 the European Community targets to reach 20% energy savings, especially in buildings, by improving the thermal isolation. In order to meet this goal, a new generation of sealed buildings using air control systems must allow drastic reduction of energy consumption. To keep these buildings safe in case of fire, an overpressure system is needed to protect the critical places within a building.

In order to ensure building safety and overpressure protection against fire for customers with different needs, SMAY needed very accurate, fast and stable pressure sensors to monitor differential pressure and detect overpressure in case of fire.

Honeywell's pressure sensors were chosen after a rigid selection process and extensive testing where they provided the most stable output and an insurmountable reaction time of less than 2 seconds. The customer benefits from a very stable system, even under difficult conditions like a complicated building design or during a fire. Due to Honeywell's TruStability® board mount pressure sensors, the iSWAY-FC series compact pressurization units produce the set value of overpressure within the space of a staircase, shaft or rescue elevator or in a system of separate elevator shafts, each with its own air supply source. The sensor can also control the pressure in the air supply duct.
