Improved, food-industry safe, metal-detectable plastic cable ties arrive at RS Components

New polypropylene range from leading brand HellermannTyton enhances chemical resistance and detectability

RS Components (RS), the trading brand of Electrocomponents plc, the global distributor for engineers, has introduced new HellermannTyton polypropylene metal-content cable ties, which deliver superior performance in manufacturing equipment for the food, beverage and pharmaceutical industries.

Metal-content plastic ties are safer to install and more economical than all-metal ties, and can be detected using standard metal-detecting scanners deployed on the production line if they break and fall into the product. This enhances food safety and helps producers comply with regulations such as EU or US FDA codes, and the World Health Organization HACCP (Hazard Analysis of Critical Control Points) directive. HellermannTyton was the first to introduce metal-detectable plastic ties for industries that require high product purity.

The new HellermannTyton polypropylene ties, now in stock at RS, have greater chemical resistance than typical nylon-based ties and can be used in a wider range of applications. In addition, improved floatability in a wide variety of liquids enhances visual detection. Like all HellermannTyton ties, the metal pigment is uniformly distributed to ensure detection of even the smallest pieces. The new ties are available in various sizes, in bright blue that are easy to see in addition to being detectable using scanners.

RS has a broad metal-content portfolio for contamination-sensitive applications, including nylon ties, cable-tie bases, spiral binding and cable cover products, as well as stainless steel cable ties and mounts, and application tooling for optimal installation.
