High resistance to hot cracking
Characterized by its very low cobalt, vanadium and boron content, and enhanced ferrite content, Sandvik 24.13.LHF has high resistance to hot cracking. It is thus suitable for welding applications in the nuclear energy sector.
The wire is recommended for first layer weld cladding procedures, and dissimilar joining of stainless to low alloyed or non-alloyed steels, wrought or cast. It is also suitable for overlay welding of carbon or low-alloyed steels, where a 304/304L deposit is required. Sandvik 24.13.LHF can be an effective choice if centerline cracking is an issue when using standard 24.13.L (309L or 309LSi).
Stability at high temperatures
Sandvik 24.13.LNb offers stability at high temperatures and is thus suitable for welding applications in petrochemical refineries. An over alloyed filler metal, it is recommended for overlay welding of carbon and low alloy steels, where a type 347 overlay is required. A Sandvik 24.13.LNb weld deposit is niobium stabilized and thus resistant to carbide precipitation and resultant intergranular corrosion.
Corrosion resistance at same level as the 316L base metal
Sandvik 24.16.3.L is suitable for welding on oil and gas pipelines and valves. The corrosion resistance of the weld overlays is at the same level as the 316L base metal. Sandvik 24.16.3.L is recommended for the buffer layer on steel in multilayer techniques; the following layer(s) to be welded using Sandvik 19.12.3.L or 19.13.4.L to obtain 316L or 317L overlay.
