Kennametal employees join
04/02/2014 Kennametal UK Ltd
To celebrate their 75th anniversary, Kennametal declared 2013 to be "Volunteer-Year". As part of the programme, many volunteer projects have been carried out at Kennametal's different offices. In December, a project was started for all the offices in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Staff at Kennametal collected prescription glasses, sunglasses and frames for the organisation "Glasses for everyone" based in Koblenz. The mission of-€¢Glasses for everyone" is to offer vision aids to those in need suffering from eye conditions to enable them to take part in everyday life and also to offer them access to training. These objectives are also reflected in Kennametal's company philosophy. Access to training is key to an independent and purposeful life.
13 European Kennamental offices took part in this programme, organising collection points at the offices, encouraging friends and families and even some town councils to take part by donating old spectacles. The response was impressive. On Friday 24 January 2014 a total of 650 pairs of glasses were handed over to the organisation "Glasses for everyone".
Mr Klein, manager of the organisation in Koblenz, expressed his enthusiasm for the response of the employees and said he was very pleased. The 20 employees who, thanks to the programme, will be able to return to their daily lives, collected their spectacles with great enthusiasm. Now the glasses will be classified, measured and dismounted or repaired where necessary, ready to be sent to countries in need all over the world.
